Buller District: Wildlife Encounters

Let nature come to you in Buller. From one end to the other there are opportunities to view wildlife close up. Find easy access to seal colonies and haulouts, and all along this coast watch out for Hector’s dolphins cavorting in the surf . You wont miss the abundant seabirds either, many of which roost in the spectacular coastal cliffs. Inland rainforests are a birdwatcher’s paradise too with inquisitive weka, bellbirds, tui, robins, native wood pigeon, NZ falcon and even kiwi in certain areas.
