Tiropahi Track
A well formed track leads up through the scenic Tiropahi Gorge to an open pakihi, with fine views of the Paparoa National Park tops in clear weather.
The Tiropahi Walk is located off SH67, South Charleston. Takes approx 1 hr 30 mins. You will encounter an old bush tramway, a milling site, a river, lime stone bluffs and a river one river crossing.
Along the way are several access points to the riverbed with numerous deep swimming holes amidst massive water-worn limestone rocks. Near the top end are some traces of an old sawmill once served by a horse tramway which ran along the formation of todays walking track. Take care on the slippery mudstone.
