Directions

From Westport, take State Highway 67 to Granity. Watch out for a tiny turn off marked Stockton Mine (over the railway line), just past the Granity Village recycling bins. Follow this spectacular new road (it won the Small Roading Project of the Year Award) in 2007, to the Millerton turnoff. Wind down through the ‘Mansions’ of Millerton – quaint mining cottages perched on rock in the middle of the forest, then take a left turn at the little bridge at the bottom….stop outside the quaint Information Centre.

Millerton Bathhouse

The Bathhouse walks are wonderful and little-known Millerton walks. They were the brainchild of Leicester Kyle, a longtime Millerton resident and poet.  They were developed by Leicester, with funding from the Department of Conservation, and ongoing work from some dedicated local residents.  The Information Centre was Leicester’s house which he gave to the community when he died.  The house was once a Doctor’s Rooms but now is a quaint place to start to learn a bit about the area you are going to walk in.
