Punakaiki Canoes

Punakaiki Canoes offers rental kayak trips and guided trips into the heart of the Paparoa National Park.

1km north of the Pancake Rocks and blowholes at Punakaiki on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand.  Families and beginner paddlers can enjoy the peaceful Pororari River and lagoon with its majestic limestone gorge and lush rain forest.  More adventurous paddlers can explore further up this enchanting river to the lower reaches of Cave Creek.

Punakaiki Canoes is a small, locally owned and operated company committed to offering you a safe and pleasurable experience in a unique area of New Zealand.  Kayaking on the Pororari is a favourite activity for first time paddlers and families. Many choose to spend an hour or two on the river after they have visited the Pancake Rocks.

We provide lifejackets, wetsuits, booties and waterproof containers for cameras or lunch. All you need to bring is sun hat, sunglasses, camera, swimsuit and towel and warm clothes.  We have a range of kayaks to suit different needs, this includes doubles as well as singles.

Punakaiki Canoes operates all year round except when the river or weather conditions are unsuitable.

Adult charges are $35 for upto 2 hours and $45 for upto 4 hours per person. Or it will cost you just $55 for all day.

Family rates are available.

Guided trips start from $70 per person.

Prices are in NZ$ and include GST.
