Geoff and Raewyn are your hosts.    We have lived in the Buller all our lives, and since 1994 we have lived at Utopia Road.  

We live in a beautiful, unique spot, nestled in 4 acres of native bush with an estuary on our north boundary.   We take pleasure in sharing our small piece of paradise with others and have converted our garage into a spacious 2-bedroom, self-contained unit  and extended to add on a second 2-bedroom unit.  When our girls left home we converted our 4^th bedroom into a studio unit complete with bathroom and kitchenette, giving us three units in total. 

To enhance the enjoyment of your stay with us, Geoff has developed two tracks through the bush, one taking in the duck pond and bush, while the other heads in the opposite direction through the bush with views of the estuary on the return walk.   You will hear native tui and bellbirds as they sing high up in the native rata and rimu, and the swooshing of wood pigeons as they take off in flight.

Weka (wood hens) will check out your arrival, and are happy to eat any bread crumbs you throw out for them.   You can explore the estuary – it will be muddy but fun!   Look for water-loving birds including kingfishers, native ducks and white heron.  In season (1^st September – 14^th November), you could even try your hand at fishing for the West Coast delicacy, whitebait.

We are close enough to town for you to conveniently enjoy all that Westport has to offer, but far enough out of town for you to feel rested and refreshed after a quiet, peaceful night's sleep.  

We welcome your inspection, but be warned, many of our guests have booked for one night and then after arriving, have asked if they could stay a few more!!!!

We are very easy to find: heading north out of town on SH67 (towards the Banbury Mine at Denniston, or Granity and Karamea) drive over the Orowaiti River and turn left into Utopia Road.    Then turn left at Morris Road (which is the first road to intersect Utopia Road) and then left at  the barn at the end of this shingle road.
